LeAnne Gandy for House District 66
I’m running because southeastern New Mexico deserves a strong voice that understands our way of life.
I’ve lived it—from ranching and agriculture to public education to the oil and gas industry through our family business. I’ve seen firsthand how decisions made in Santa Fe impact our jobs, our schools, and our cost of living.
Right now, families are feeling the pressure. Costs are rising. Our education system is failing too many students. And the industries that support our communities are under constant attack.
We need leadership that will stand up for our values, protect our economy, and bring real solutions.
I’m ready to do that.
Meet LeAnne Gandy

LeAnne Gandy is a lifelong southeastern New Mexico resident, rancher, educator, and conservative leader with a proven record of service.
Born and raised in Chaves County and a resident of Lea County for more than 22 years, LeAnne understands the people, industries, and values that define southeastern New Mexico. She was raised on a ranch where she learned the importance of hard work, faith, and personal responsibility. Her father was a rancher, brand inspector, and firearms instructor, instilling in her a deep respect for the Second Amendment and the freedoms guaranteed by our Constitution.
LeAnne graduated from Goddard High School in Roswell, earned her Associate’s degree from Clarendon College, and completed both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Eastern New Mexico University.
She has dedicated her career to education, serving as a teacher in Hagerman Schools, an administrator, and ultimately Superintendent of Lovington Schools. Today, she serves as Director of Leadership Development for Cooperative Educational Services, working with school boards, superintendents, and municipalities to provide professional development to school leaders as well as city and county leaders.
LeAnne also serves on the Public School Capital Outlay Oversight Task Force (PSCOOTF), helping guide statewide decisions on school infrastructure, and on the board of America’s Rural Energy Coalition (AREC) a national organization for which LeAnne serves as the New Mexico representative, advocating for the communities and industries that power our state.
LeAnne and her husband Larry are proud parents of six children and grandparents to six grandchildren. Larry owns and operates a third-generation oilfield service company, giving their family firsthand experience in the realities of energy production, small business, and the New Mexico economy.
LeAnne brings what she calls the “trifecta” of real-world experience, in energy, education, and the economy. She is committed to fighting for the future of southeastern New Mexico.
LeAnne on the Issues
Economy, Jobs & Cost of Living
New Mexico families are feeling the squeeze.
LeAnne will fight to:
- Lower the cost of living for working families
- Promote policies that create good-paying local jobs
- Reduce unnecessary regulations that drive up costs
- Keep more money in the pockets of New Mexicans
A strong economy means opportunity—and it starts with leadership that understands how real people live and work.
Protecting Oil & Gas Jobs
Southeastern New Mexico fuels this state, and our oil and gas industry must be protected.
LeAnne will:
- Stand up to overregulation from Santa Fe
- Defend energy jobs and the families who depend on them
- Ensure responsible development that keeps New Mexico competitive
When oil and gas succeed, our schools, roads, and communities benefit.
Agriculture & Water Rights
Agriculture is a cornerstone of southeastern New Mexico—and it must be protected.
LeAnne will:
- Defend water rights for farmers and ranchers
- Oppose burdensome regulations that threaten agricultural producers
- Support policies that keep family farms and ranches viable for future generations
She understands that protecting water is about protecting livelihoods, food supply, and our way of life.
Reforming Education in New Mexico
New Mexico is consistently ranked near the bottom in education. That must change.
As a former teacher and superintendent, LeAnne knows real solutions require collaboration—not mandates.
She will:
- Bring educators, parents, and community leaders to the table
- Focus on student outcomes, not bureaucracy
- Restore local control to school districts
- Expand workforce and career training opportunities
LeAnne believes education should prepare students for success—not leave them behind.
Local Control for Our Communities
LeAnne believes decisions should be made at the local level—not dictated by Santa Fe.
She will:
- Empower school boards and local leaders
- Push back against one-size-fits-all mandates
- Ensure rural communities have a strong voice in state government
Local communities know what’s best for their people.
Defending the Second Amendment
LeAnne is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment.
Raised by a rancher, brand inspector, and firearms instructor, she understands that the right to bear arms is fundamental to our freedoms and our way of life.
She will stand firmly against any efforts to infringe on those rights.
Conservative Values That Deliver Results
LeAnne is a conservative Republican who believes in:
- Limited government
- Fiscal responsibility
- Protecting life
- Religious freedom
- Constitutional rights
She will stand firm for the values that built southeastern New Mexico.
